WHAT IS A LEGAL NURSE CONSULTANT (LNC)?
A Legal Nurse Consultant is a licensed, registered nurse
with legal training that consults with attorneys, doctors, and/or clients on
medical matters. They lend their knowledge and expertise to the legal system
through reviewing medical records, medical research, and by written and oral
court testimony. This could include reviewing relevant medical literature or
medical records, interviewing witnesses, and providing a professional
medical opinion. The LNC can also be Certified by a number of
organizations and institutions (giving the LNC the title Certified Legal
Nurse Consultant, abbreviated as CLNC).
Benefits of Using a Legal Nurse Consultant
Cost-Effective: CLNCs work with attorneys in
selecting the right case and maximizing its value, or assisting the defense
in defending their case or mitigating damages. An experienced CLNC will take
care of the many different kinds of services required in a cost-effective
way. Instead of the attorney's staff taking time to research, organize,
screen cases, interview people, and review medical records, we will do it
for you. You'll spend your own time, and your staff's time doing the things
you do best while you let us do the rest.
Time Efficient: All of the pre-trial preparation that
must be done is time-intensive. We complete the work efficiently and
promptly. This leaves the attorney free to concentrate on the strategic
planning of the case.
Resourceful: CLNCs possess a network of medical and
professional contacts necessary in the litigation process.
Knowledgeable: CLNCs have a thorough understanding of
medical issues related to the litigation process. This information is
presented in a format custom designed for each attorney.
Experienced: CLNCs have a background of clinical
experience which allows them to arrive at a realistic interpretation of
medical records, documents and medical-legal issues.
Building a Strong Case: Utilizing the services of a
CLNC will help forge the strongest case possible. You will be provided with
medical back-up and expertise.
